Refrigerant, also known as refrigerant and snow, is an indispensable part of the refrigeration system of industrial chiller, and we often call it refrigerant (also called snow).

In the refrigeration system of the industrial chillers continuous circulation and through its own state changes to achieve the cooling effect. Its nature is directly related to the refrigeration effect, economy, and safety of the refrigeration device.

The selection of industrial refrigerants need to consider a variety of factors:

(1) It has excellent thermodynamic characteristics so that it can operate in a given temperature region with high cycle efficiency.

(2) The specific requirements for excellent thermophysical properties are: higher heat transfer coefficient, lower viscosity and smaller density.

(3) Good chemical stability requires that the working medium has good chemical stability at high temperatures to ensure that the working medium does not decompose at the highest working temperature.

(4) Good miscibility with lubricating oil

(5) Safety working medium should be non-toxic, non-irritating, non-combustible and explosive.

(6) Good electrical insulation

(7) Economy requires low working medium and easy access.

(8) Environmental protection requires that the ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP) of the working medium be as small as possible to reduce the destruction of the atmospheric ozone layer and cause global warming.

The use of refrigerants is very wide, its types are also very many, there are already 80 kinds, and constantly increasing, of which there are more than ten kinds for food, the more widely used is R22, R717, R134a, R404A, R407C these several, and R22 is the industrial chiller used more.

R22 (difluoro-chloromethane)

R22 (Freon22, difluorochloromethane, molecular formula CHClF2, molecular weight 86.47. R-22 at room temperature is colorless, almost odorless gas, no combustion, no corrosion, very little toxicity, pressure can be liquefied into colorless transparent liquid, HCFC-type refrigerant. R-22 has high chemical and thermal stability, especially in the absence of water, and does not react with general metals below 200 ° C. In the presence of water, it acts only slowly with alkali. But it will crack at high temperatures.

R-22 is widely used in household air conditioning, central air conditioning and other commercial refrigeration, industrial refrigeration equipment

R134a (tetrafluoroethane)

Refrigerant R134a is currently internationally recognized as an alternative to R12 one of the main refrigerant, often used in automotive air conditioning, commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, and as a blowing agent for the production of hard plastic insulation materials, can also be used to configure other mixed refrigerants, such as R404A and R407C.

Main use: It mainly replaces R12 as refrigerant and is widely used in automobile air conditioning and refrigerator refrigeration.

404A

R404A shall not be a non-azeotropic refrigerant mixture without chlorine, colorless gas at room temperature and pressure, and compressed liquefied gas stored in steel cylinders. Its ODP is 0, so R404A is an environmentally friendly refrigerant that does not damage the atmospheric ozone layer.

Main uses: R404A is mainly used to replace R22 and R502, with clean, low toxicity, non-combustible, good refrigeration effect and other characteristics, a large number of low temperature freezing system.

R407C

At room temperature and pressure, R407C is a chlorine-free fluoroalkyl non-azeotropic mixture of refrigerant, colorless gas, stored in the cylinder is compressed liquefied gas. Its ODP is 0, so R407C is an environmentally friendly refrigerant that does not damage the atmospheric ozone layer.

Main uses: R407C is mainly used to replace R22, with clean, low toxicity, non-combustible, good cooling effect and other characteristics, a large number of household air conditioning, small and medium-sized central air conditioning.
